Incident AI – MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) Setup Guide
1. What is MFA?
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds a second layer of security to your Incident AI account.
-
Something you know: your password
-
Something you have: a time-based one-time passcode (TOTP) from an authenticator app
Even if someone discovers your password, they cannot access your account without that rotating code.
2. Supported Authenticator Apps
Any TOTP-compatible app will work. Common options include:
-
Google Authenticator
-
Microsoft Authenticator
-
Authy
-
Duo Mobile
Tip: It does not materially matter which app you choose—pick whichever you’re most comfortable with or already use.
3. Downloading an Authenticator
On iOS (iPhone/iPad)
-
Open the App Store
-
Search for one of:
-
“Google Authenticator”

On Android

4. Enabling MFA in Incident AI
-
Log in to Incident AI with your username and password.
-
At first login, a QR code and secret key will appear.
5. Configuring Your Authenticator
-
Open your chosen authenticator app.
-
Tap + (or Add account).
-
Select Scan a QR code, then point your camera at the on-screen QR code in Incident AI.
-
Alternatively, choose Enter a setup key and paste the secret key shown.
-
-
The app will generate a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds.
6. Logging in with MFA
-
Enter your username and password as usual.
-
When prompted, open your authenticator app and type the current 6-digit code.
-
Access is granted if the code matches.
7. Backup & Recovery
-
Save your secret key (displayed when enabling MFA) in a secure password manager or printout.
-
If you lose your device, you can re-enter this key into a new authenticator app.
-
Contact your Incident AI administrator if you lose both your device and backup key.
